Let It Go, Sis, God Has Moved.

This morning, I sat with my Bible and journal, i teared up. This month of May is packed with so many emotions from 2024. I gave birth to my third son on May 7th. One week later, my mom became sick and that marked the beginning of her journey to the other side. She passed away on August 26. I was also born in May, on the 24th, and I’m turning 40 this year. So you see… there’s a lot going on this month.
I didn’t plan to write this, but it poured out of a quiet moment with God. Maybe you’ve had one of those days too—where your heart says it’s time, but your hands are still holding on. If so, this is for you.
Some things you’re trying to revive… God has already released you from.
Let it go, sis.
I know how easy it is to replay every scenario in your head convincing yourself it can still be fixed, that it’s not over yet. You want to believe there’s still a chance. But deep down? You know. The chances are slim or gone altogether. Still, you’re holding on.
But sis, please let it go.

When God Says It’s Time to Move On

In 1 Samuel 16:1, God speaks to the prophet Samuel:

“How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.”

Samuel was stuck in grief over Saul’s failure, but God had already moved on to a new plan: anointing David, the shepherd boy who would one day become king and carry the lineage of Jesus Christ.

Sometimes we mourn what looks big and important to us but God is calling us to release it because He’s already shifted. He’s inviting us into something greater.

My Personal Release

Today, I choose to let go too.

I’ve been sitting in the heaviness of grief, mourning the loss of my mother. It’s been painful, daily. I’ve been wrapped in the weight of “I wish” and “what if.” But God is gently asking me to release it.

So today, I release myself from the grief that’s become familiar, but not fruitful. I choose to celebrate the beautiful, powerful woman my mother was to me, to others, to the Body of Christ and her church

Instead of clinging to the past, I’m surrendering to God’s next step, because I know this pain is not my home.

Mathew 11:28

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

What Do You Need to Let Go Of?

Is it grief, like me? A broken marriage? A fading friendship? A toxic job? An unhealthy family tie?..

Whatever it is, if God told you to release it, do it.

Letting go doesn’t mean you gave up. It means you’re making space. It means you’re brave enough to step into the better, the new, and the healed.

God cannot fill hands that are still clinging.

So, what’s that one thing God told you to let go of?

Let go, sis. He’s already moved.

Let’s Talk: What’s one thing you’re surrendering to God today? Drop it in the comments or journal it in prayer. You’re not alone.
