Have you been feeling called to start a YouTube channel, but think you need fancy cameras, expensive lighting, or a laptop? Here’s the truth: you can start right now with just your phone and your God-given message.
What You Need to Start Your YouTube Channel
1°Gmail account
2°Smartphone
3°YouTube app
If you’re reading this blog post, you probably already have these tools. However, I recommend creating a new Gmail and YouTube account for your business branding to keep things organised.
Step 1: Create a New Gmail & YouTube Channel
A) On Your YouTube App:
✔️ Open the YouTube app
✔️ Click on your profile icon
✔️ Tap the three dots in the upper right corner
✔️ Click on Settings
✔️ Click Switch Account
✔️ Tap the “+” sign in the upper right corner
You’ll see two options:
- Login with existing email
- Create new email
If creating a new email:
➡️ Choose Business use (recommended for branding)
➡️ Follow the prompts and fill in your information.
Step 2: Set Up Your YouTube Channel
✔️ Edit Channel: Add your channel name and details
✔️ Add Profile Picture: Choose a clear, friendly photo
✔️ Add Channel Description: Make sure it sells your channel’s idea immediately.
✏️ (If you need help writing your description, comment “Channel Description Help” below, and I will support you.)
✔️ Design Channel Banner: Use Canva.com to create a simple and attractive banner that clearly shows what your channel is about.
Step 3: Upload Your First Videos
Your channel is ready – now it’s time to film and upload your first three videos. Make sure they are highly searchable topics within your niche to gain traction fast.
✔️ Upload your first two videos immediately
✔️ Schedule your third video to keep your channel active and signal consistency to YouTube.

Final Encouragement
Don’t let fear or overthinking hold you back. Life begins at 40, and so does your purpose-driven online business.
